Ministry publishes disclosure list: Dye found in chili flakes

Following inspections conducted to protect public health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated the disclosure lists published at guvenilirgida.tarimorman.gov.tr. According to the statement, 6 new products have been added to the "Foods Endangering Health" category as a result of the inspections.

PROHIBITED DYE DETECTED IN SPICE

One of the most notable products on the updated list was chili flakes belonging to a company operating in the Eyyübiye district of Şanlıurfa.

Analyses determined that this product contained a dye substance that is not permitted for use in food.

The inspection reports stated that these dyes were used illegally to enhance the color and appearance of the products.

HERBAL MIXTURES AND PASTES AT THE FOREFRONT

A significant portion of the new list announced by the Ministry consists of products marketed as "herbal mixture pastes." It was reported that inspections detected components in these products that pose health risks and, in some cases, may contain pharmaceutical active ingredients.

For this reason, warnings have been issued for consumers to be cautious regarding these products.

Citizens can check the reliability of the food products they purchase through two separate lists published on the Reliable Food portal.

The "Foods Endangering Health" list includes products containing substances that directly threaten human health. The "Foods Subject to Imitation and Adulteration" list contains foods where the product content has been altered to mislead the consumer, such as using offal instead of meat or adding different vegetable oils instead of olive oil.
