AKOM issues warning with specific date: Thunderstorms are coming to Istanbul
According to AKOM's weekly forecast, no precipitation is expected in Istanbul until Friday; however, thunderstorms are expected to be effective on Friday.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has announced that thunderstorms are expected in Istanbul on Friday.
According to AKOM's weekly weather forecast report, no precipitation is expected in the city until Friday. During this period, the weather is expected to be mostly sunny, partly cloudy, or clear.
The report stated that the northeasterly wind (poyraz), which is expected to blow from the north, may occasionally strengthen, reaching speeds of 20 to 50 kilometers per hour. It is estimated that the wind will carry the relatively cool air from the north to Istanbul, preventing temperatures from rising excessively.
While temperatures across the city are expected to range between 28 and 31 degrees throughout the week, citizens have been urged to be cautious against passing thunderstorms on Friday.
According to the weekly forecast, the lowest and highest temperatures in Istanbul are projected to be 21/29 degrees on September 3, 21/27 on September 4, 21/31 on September 5, 22/32 on September 6, 21/28 on September 7, and 20/27 on September 8.
