Dardanelles closed to ship traffic due to fog
The Dardanelles has been closed to transit ship traffic in both directions due to dense fog.
Dense fog, which has intensified in the Dardanelles, has caused disruptions in maritime transport. Due to reduced visibility, the strait's traffic was closed to transit ship passages in both directions as of 10:20.
Officials from the Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services Directorate warned ship captains entering from the north and south via radio, announcing that the strait's traffic had been suspended. Ships have begun waiting in anchorage areas.
Meanwhile, ferry services on the Lapseki-Gelibolu line have also been temporarily halted due to the fog.
