Storm alert in the Dardanelles: Ship traffic suspended
Due to the strong southwesterly storm affecting the Dardanelles, ship traffic has been temporarily suspended in both directions as of 12:20 PM.
Following the storm warning issued by the Meteorology Department for Çanakkale yesterday, adverse weather conditions have been felt across the city since the morning hours. Due to the storm affecting the North Aegean Sea, ferry services between Geyikli–Bozcaada and Kabatepe–Gökçeada have been mutually cancelled for today and tomorrow.
As the storm intensified, maritime transport in the Dardanelles was also disrupted. As of 12:20 PM, the strait was temporarily closed to ship traffic from both the north and south directions. The Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services Directorate informed the captains of ships waiting to pass via radio announcement.
