Netanyahu gives the order: Israel's advance in the Golan continues
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the decision to expand Jewish settlements in the Golan Heights.
The Netanyahu administration in Israel has approved a plan to expand settlements in the Golan Heights, aiming to double the population in the region.
Prime Minister Netanyahu emphasized that strengthening the Golan Heights is of critical importance for the security of the State of Israel.
Following the civil war in Syria and the weakening of the Assad regime, Israel continues to expand its military presence in the Golan Heights.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Following the intensification of clashes in Syria on November 27, and coinciding with the collapse of the 61-year-old Baath regime on December 8, the Israeli army's attacks on Syria have increased.
The Israeli army, which began destroying the military infrastructure and assets remaining from the regime's army, has expanded its advance into the Golan Heights, which is Syrian territory.
Entering the buffer zone around the Golan Heights, the Israeli army has pushed the occupation further, reaching within 25 kilometers of the capital, Damascus.
Israel has kept the Syrian Golan Heights under occupation since 1967. The boundaries of the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone were determined by the Agreement on Disengagement of Forces signed between Israel and Syria in 1974.
