Veil of secrecy lifting in Narin Güran's death! 'Faith healer' detail enters the case file

The date for the first hearing in the murder case of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found 19 days after she went missing in Diyarbakır, has been set.

While the incident has caused deep sorrow and anger across Turkey, subsequent developments have further shocked the public.

8-year-old Narin Güran went missing on August 21, 2024, in the central Sur district of Diyarbakır.

The search efforts initiated upon her family's missing person report were worryingly prolonged.

Despite all efforts over 19 days, Narin could not be found. At the end of the 19th day, Narin's lifeless body was discovered in a field.

The autopsy performed after the incident revealed striking findings regarding Narin's death.

During this process, the seemingly indifferent approach of the Gendarmerie and relevant units led to increased public criticism.

Allegations have emerged that during the search efforts that began from the days Narin went missing, Gendarmerie teams visited a faith healer to determine Narin's location.

According to details in a report by DW, a JASAT officer described the event as follows:

“A village headman said there was a religious scholar in central Diyarbakır who could find missing persons by reciting prayers. I informed my commanders and we went to the address. When the scholar started reciting, her brother M.G. began to mutter and describe certain places. When it was Narin's mother's turn, my commander called me, so I left the address.”

This information, included in the reports entered into the case file, has drawn reactions from both officials and the public.
