28-year prison sentence requested for supermarket chain owner over FETÖ links
An indictment has been prepared against HAKMAR Group of Companies Chairman Zeki Doruk and 26 others as part of an investigation into the financial structure of FETÖ.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has prepared an indictment against 27 individuals and 22 companies, including Zeki Doruk, the chairman of the HAKMAR Group of Companies, which has been transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).
The indictment requests prison sentences ranging from 14 years and 2 months to 28 years and 3 months for 15 individuals, including Zeki Doruk and Adem Doruk, on charges of "membership in an armed terrorist organization" and "violating the Law on the Prevention of the Financing of Terrorism." For the other 12 individuals, prison sentences ranging from 7 and a half years to 15 years were requested for the charge of "membership in an armed terrorist organization." Additionally, the confiscation of assets was requested for the 22 companies. The indictment has been sent to the Istanbul 14th High Criminal Court.
DETAILS OF THE OPERATION
On July 15, as a result of an operation conducted by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch, simultaneous raids were carried out in Istanbul, as well as in Ankara, Sakarya, Osmaniye, Bayburt, Giresun, Malatya, Yalova, and Bolu.
During these operations, 26 people, including Zeki Doruk, the owner of the HAKMAR and TATBAK supermarket chains, and former police officer Cengiz Güneş, were detained. The criminal judgeship of peace ordered the arrest of 22 individuals, including Zeki Doruk.
It was determined that Zeki Doruk regularly transferred money to organization members in Turkey in accordance with instructions received from FETÖ's foreign network and used the HAKMAR Group of Companies for these transactions.
Furthermore, it was discovered that Doruk provided funds to FETÖ under the guise of "sacrificial donations, pilgrimage money, and subscriptions to the Zaman newspaper" to collect aid for the organization. It was noted that organizational meetings were held at the HAKMAR headquarters building, where security was kept at a high level.
While trustees were appointed to HAKMAR and TATBAK as part of the investigation, it was revealed that Cengiz Güneş had delivered cash aid to individuals within FETÖ's clandestine structures.
