Following the acceptance of the indictment prepared by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the court decided in its preliminary report dated October 26 to continue Fatih Ergin's detention.
The decision stated that there is concrete evidence indicating a strong suspicion of a crime and grounds for detention, and that judicial control measures would be insufficient. The court also ordered that a writ be sent to the prison where Ergin is being held to ensure his presence at the hearing.
Fatih Ergin, who has been in custody since September 28, will appear before a judge for the first time on November 18, 2026, at 14:00. Thus, Ergin's first hearing will take place on the 51st day of his detention.
The process leading to Ergin's detention began with a social media post regarding the discovery of Turgay Tamer, whose name was mentioned in the investigation into the death of former MIT member Kaşif Kozinoğlu, dead in his home.
In his post, Ergin had identified Tamer as a "former forensic medicine employee," but later corrected this information, stating that Tamer had previously served as a doctor at the prison campus. The indictment dated October 15 requests that Ergin be punished in accordance with Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code.
