Allegation that 'Umut Akyürek cost her sister Berat Akyürek her job'
It has been alleged that Turkish Classical Music artist Umut Akyürek caused her own sister, Berat Akyürek, to lose her job. It is claimed that Umut Akyürek told the manager of the venue where her sister performed, "If I perform here, I will increase the quality of this place."
It has been alleged that Umut Akyürek and her sister Berat Akyürek are estranged.
Müge Dağıstanlı, host of the magazine program 'Aramızda Kalmasın', summarized the reason as follows:
"Umut Akyürek's sister, Berat Akyürek, who is also a singer, had been performing every Friday for 5 months at a famous club in Taksim. About 4 months ago, Umut Akyürek and her husband, Oktay Ertuğrul, went to the club to listen to Berat Akyürek. They sat in the front row.
Shortly after that night, the club decided to part ways with Berat Akyürek. Instead, they reached an agreement with Umut Akyürek and her husband. The owner of the establishment sent a voice message to Berat Akyürek to inform her of the situation.
Suspicious of the situation but initially saying nothing, Berat later considered the possibility that 'Perhaps my sister spoke with the club owner and my position was undermined.'
After a while, Berat received a message stating: Your sister, Umut Akyürek, wanted to perform at the club where you were performing, and they have now chosen her instead of you. Your sister said, 'If I perform here, I will increase the quality of this place.'
Following this, an argument, coldness, and estrangement began between the sisters. After this incident, Berat Akyürek sent her sister a message saying, 'May God reform you.'"
