The 38th The Bodrum Cup will bring sailing enthusiasts together in Bodrum between October 19-24. In the organization, which will be held with the theme of "Bodrum Ship" this year, the 25-year-old sailing school ship's renovation and continuation of its journey on the seas will be highlighted.
The organization, which was started by the Era Bodrum Sailing Club in 1988, will be held in five stages this year. The races, which will start from Bodrum, will extend to Yalıkavak via Knidos and Ortakent. The races, in which Knidos has been included in the route again after a long break, will end on October 24.
BODRUM SHIP IS BEING PREPARED FOR THE SEA AGAIN
The Bodrum Ship, which was born from within The Bodrum Cup, is at the center of the organization this year. It is planned that the ship, which is under the Bodrum and Caria Region Culture, Art and Promotion Foundation (BOSAV), will participate in the races following the comprehensive maintenance and renovation works carried out at the Ağanlar Shipyard as part of its 25th anniversary.
With the works carried out with the main support of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping and Ağanlar Shipyard, it is aimed for the ship to remain at sea for many years and to improve its function as a school ship.
Süleyman Uysal, Chairman of The Bodrum Cup Organizing Committee and Chairman of BOSAV, stated that the organization has turned into a meeting that promotes Bodrum's maritime culture and contributes to the city's tourism over the years. Uysal expressed that both the boats that will compete in different categories and the Bodrum Ship, which was born from within the organization, will be at the forefront this year.
RACE CENTER WILL BE ESTABLISHED IN BODRUM
Throughout the race week, in addition to sea races, art, sports, history, and cultural events will also be organized. The Race Center, which will be established in Bodrum Municipality Square between October 19-24, will be a meeting point where the races can be followed and exhibitions and various events will be held.
The bell ceremony of the organization will be held on October 19. The first race stage will be held between Bodrum and Bodrum on October 20.
