A couple who 'kept' more than 150 cats and 7 dogs in their home has been sentenced to prison. According to the court ruling, the couple will never be allowed to own pets again.
A couple living in the city of Nice, France, was keeping 159 cats and 7 dogs in an 80-square-meter home.
It was learned that the animals were living in filth, were left without water, and had contracted various diseases due to malnutrition.
In the lawsuit filed, a permanent ban on the couple keeping pets was imposed.
THEY WILL PAY 150 THOUSAND EUROS
In the case, it was decided that the couple must pay a fine of 150 thousand Euros (approximately 5 million 190 thousand Turkish Lira).
It was stated that this money would be given to charities working for animal rights.
The couple, for whom the prosecutor had requested 18 months in prison, was also given a one-year suspended prison sentence.
