Umut Akyürek's confession about Ferdi Tayfur years later!

Ferdi Tayfur, the legendary name of Arabesque music, passed away on January 2, 2025, at the age of 79. The news of Tayfur's death, who passed away due to multiple organ failure, plunged the art world and his fans into mourning.

Following Tayfur's death, many famous names shared their memories of the master artist. One of these names was Umut Akyürek.

Akyürek, who attended Ferdi Tayfur's funeral, expressed her sorrow with the words, "My condolences to our country. We have lost a true artist, a true folk poet, someone who was an example with his stance and attitude. He was ill, but I still cannot believe he is dead."

A CONFESSION YEARS LATER

Later, publishing a video on her social media account, Umut Akyürek surprised everyone with her confession years later.

In her post, Akyürek said, "We performed our final duty on a rainy day. I truly cannot find the words; there are some people, like Ferdi brother, to whom death never suits. No matter how old they are, it feels as if they are immortal.

Ferdi brother was truly a person who acted as a father in my life and my husband's life. We were his vocalists 34 years ago; he gave us bread. We first experienced the stage with him. I am the Fadime in 'Fadime'nin Düğünü' (Fadime's Wedding), and I also acted in the music video. We even worked on an album project during that period," she said.

"WE ALSO WORKED ON AN ALBUM BUT I LATER CHANGED MY MIND"

Umut Akyürek continued her words, "I was in the conservatory preparatory class in those years, and news spread that Ferdi Tayfur was looking for a female soloist to sing his works. Through Özer Arkun, I went for this job; they liked me, and I recorded 12 songs for the album. Photos were even taken, but I became indecisive at the last moment.

However, Ferdi brother showed such greatness... He was neither offended nor hurt by me. He said, 'Do as you feel comfortable, my daughter. I am always behind you.' I was his vocalist throughout my student years," she added.
