House arrest decision for social media influencer Merve Taşkın
Social media influencer Merve Taşkın, who was detained on charges of "obscenity" due to a Valentine's Day post, has been placed under house arrest by the judicial authorities.
Merve Taşkın, who drew attention with a post titled "dinner" for those spending February 14 alone, faced significant backlash on social media. While the influencer's post was reported to CİMER, she was detained by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Morality Bureau.
Following her processing at the police station, Merve Taşkın was referred to the courthouse, where a request for her arrest was submitted to the Criminal Court of Peace. However, the judge issued a judicial control decision with the measure of house arrest for Taşkın.
