Passed by the IMM Assembly: A new tram line is coming to Istanbul

The Transportation Feasibility Report for the Üsküdar-Kadıköy-Maltepe Tram Line, which will connect three districts on the Anatolian side, has received approval from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly.

The second session of the IMM Assembly for June was held at the municipal building in Saraçhane, chaired by the 1st Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Nuri Aslan.

During the assembly meeting, the Transportation Feasibility Report for the Üsküdar-Kadıköy-Maltepe Tram Line, for which feasibility studies have been completed, was brought to the agenda.

According to the joint report of the Transportation and Traffic Commission and the Zoning and Public Works Commission, the line, which will start from Üsküdar Square, extend to the Kadıköy waterfront, and then to Maltepe, will be 21.3 kilometers long and consist of 33 stops.

TARGETED PASSENGER NUMBERS ANNOUNCED

The daily passenger numbers for the line, which is targeted to begin construction this year, are calculated to be 198,964 in 2027, 277,302 in 2040, and 312,356 in 2050.

The line, previously introduced as "AnadoluTRAM," will be integrated with Marmaray at the Söğütlüçeşme station and with the newly planned Yenidoğan-Söğütlüçeşme metro line. Additionally, it will provide connections to the Ümraniye-Ataşehir-Göztepe and Dudullu-Bostancı metro lines along the route.

The agenda item was accepted unanimously by the assembly.
