Landslide occurs in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul
A landslide occurred at approximately 19:30 in the area located on Bahadır Street in the Yıldıztabya neighborhood of Gaziosmanpaşa district.
According to statements from official sources, 24 shanty houses (gecekondu) were affected by the landslide.
96 people were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Here is the statement regarding the landslide that occurred:
"On 19.04.2024, at approximately 19.30, a landslide occurred in the area located on Bahadır Street in the Yıldıztabya neighborhood of Gaziosmanpaşa district.

A total of 24 shanty houses were affected by the incident, and 3 of these houses have become unusable.
While 78 of our 96 citizens living in the evacuated houses have been placed in hotels, 18 of our citizens have settled in the homes of their relatives in accordance with their own wishes.
Damage assessment studies in the evacuated buildings will be carried out on Saturday, 20.04.2024, by teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization, AFAD, and the district municipality.

There were no deaths or injuries in the incident.
