A man in Istanbul held his 95-year-old mother hostage with a knife!

The incident occurred in the Mustafa Kemal neighborhood of Ataşehir around 9:00 PM last night.

According to allegations, Kazım Ateş (65), who lived with his mother on the 4th floor of a four-story building, held his 95-year-old mother hostage with a knife while under the influence of substances. Kazım Ateş locked his mother in the house, used profanity against her, and committed acts of violence.

Neighbors who noticed the situation notified the police. Upon the report, fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Police teams arriving at the scene broke down the door locked by Kazım Ateş and rescued the 95-year-old woman. Upon seeing the police, Kazım Ateş locked himself in another room in the house and was subsequently taken to the police station by the officers.

Sercan Ertürk, one of the neighborhood residents, said, "Our door was knocked. The elderly woman who owns the house is 95 years old. When my wife opened the door, the elderly woman suddenly entered our house and said her son was going to set the house on fire. We called the police and asked for help immediately. He has currently locked himself in a room. He is waiting with a knife in his hand. I don't know if he is a substance addict, but he is reportedly using pills. He is around 65 years old. His mother is 95."
