Storm and heavy rainfall negatively affect life in Bodrum
Severe rainfall and strong southwesterly winds that began in the morning hours in Muğla's Bodrum district have disrupted daily life.
Following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, heavy rainfall and strong southwesterly winds that took effect in the morning hours in Bodrum have negatively impacted life in the district. Small fishing boats were dragged ashore in areas such as İçmeler, Gümbet, and Ortakent, while significant damage occurred to wooden piers. Additionally, the uprooting of century-old trees drew attention.
Due to the storm, scheduled ferry services were canceled, and dry cargo ships departing from Güllük were forced to seek shelter in the bays of Bodrum. Fishermen who had set out to sea struggled to collect their nets and had difficulty returning to the harbor.
Floodwaters overflowing from streams due to the rainfall changed the color of the sea at tourist beaches. Meteorological officials stated that the heavy rainfall and storm are expected to continue for the next 48 hours.
