Competition Authority launches investigation into Google: PMAX campaign under review

According to the announcement on the Competition Authority's website, the Board has launched an investigation to determine whether Google is abusing its power in the online advertising sector with its PMAX campaign.

The campaign, which Google introduced in 2021, offers advertisers the opportunity to access all advertising spaces on the Google Ads platform through a single campaign.

In the investigation to be conducted within this scope, it will be evaluated whether Google is leveraging its power in the field to other advertising services through the campaign in question, whether it is engaging in unfair practices against advertisers, and whether it is hindering competition through data consolidation.

The investigation decisions taken by the Board do not mean that the undertakings against which an investigation has been opened have violated the relevant law and that they are facing or will face sanctions.
