Bilal Erdoğan joins Boğaziçi debate: 'Professors without scientific background are going crazy'

Bilal Erdoğan, son of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has made statements regarding the ongoing debates over rector appointments at Boğaziçi University. Speaking at the 16th Ordinary Board of Trustees Meeting of the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Foundation for the History of Science in Islam, Bilal Erdoğan responded to criticisms directed at Boğaziçi University.

Targeting academics who oppose the rector appointments at Boğaziçi University, Bilal Erdoğan said, "They are trying to make it look as if a great evil is being done to Boğaziçi University." Erdoğan claimed that those expressing these views represent a "mentality that hired professors to the university without any academic output."

Bilal Erdoğan stated that Boğaziçi University has been rising steadily under the current rector's tenure, adding that the university's academic level and physical facilities are improving every day. He further noted that the newly hired academics "joined with a very high number of scholarly works."
