DEM Party claim! Will there be a 'Nevruz' adjustment 10 days before the local elections?
Sözcü columnist Deniz Zeyrek stated that the government might "allow large Nevruz rallies nationwide, especially in Istanbul, on March 21" to increase Murat Kurum's chances in the local elections.
Sözcü columnist Deniz Zeyrek said that methods to make the DEM Party more visible might be sought in order for the People's Alliance's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Murat Kurum to win the local elections.
Zeyrek used the following expressions in his column:
A NEVRUZ MOVE MAY BE COMING
"Even if Kurum does not have a chance to change the picture, there is a possibility that the picture could change. According to the assessment made by AK Party members, if the DEM Party exceeds 4 percent and the YRP falls below 3 percent, İmamoğlu's job could become difficult, and a chance could arise for Kurum. For this reason, the government may take steps to increase the visibility of the DEM Party. At this point, March 21, that is, Nevruz Day, comes to the fore. The government, which constantly appears anti-DEM Party here and there and portrays the DEM Party as a terrorist element, may allow large Nevruz rallies nationwide, especially in Istanbul, this March 21. Thus, the DEM Party could find the chance to show its strength in Istanbul as well, and could unite and mobilize its base in Istanbul with a magnificent rally. The emotion that a large DEM Party rally to be held in Istanbul on March 21 will create in DEM Party voters for 10 days could be written as votes for the DEM Party and hope for Kurum."
