According to a report by Sözcü, DEM Party sources described Bahçeli's move as a "historic speech" and stated the following:
HE HAD SAID 'LET THE ISOLATION BE LIFTED, LET HIM PROCLAIM THAT TERROR HAS ENDED'
DEM Party members quoted the remarks: "If the isolation of the terrorist leader is lifted, let him come and speak at the DEM Party group meeting in the TBMM. Let him proclaim that terror has ended. If he shows this determination, the path for legal arrangements should be wide open. Let the address extend from İmralı to the DEM, and let this issue be removed from the country's agenda. I challenge you, we are ready for this; we are even prepared to stomach this."
