DEM Party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan reacts to trustee appointments: 'We want democracy, not trustees'

DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan voiced her criticisms regarding the appointment of trustees during the “We Want Democracy, Not Trustees Meeting” program held in Sancaktepe.

In her speech in front of the Sancaktepe district office, Doğan stated that they would not give up on the municipalities they won or their struggle for democracy.

In her speech, she used the following expressions: “We draw our strength from our righteousness and our faith. Local democracy, not trustees; living together, not trustees; a model of governing together, not trustees, is what is real and genuine for this country.”

'THERE IS A NEED FOR GENUINE BROTHERHOOD'

Stating that Turkey does not need a trustee regime but rather a genuine and lasting understanding of brotherhood, Doğan made the following assessments in the continuation of her remarks:

“This must be in essence, not just in words. What happened before the trustee was appointed to Hakkari? Immediately after the March 31 elections, an attempt was made to appoint a trustee to Van. Then, trustees were appointed to Hakkari, Esenyurt, Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti. However, we did not take a step back; these gains were not achieved easily.”

'WE WILL EXERCISE OUR RIGHT TO DEMOCRATIC RESISTANCE'

Emphasizing that they will exercise their right to democratic resistance, Doğan said, “We will not give up on our municipalities, which we won by weaving them stitch by stitch with great effort, starting with our will, nor will we give up on our dream for the future.” Stating that local democracy must be strengthened, Doğan expressed that they will continue their resistance against trustee administrations.
