Detained on charges of insulting the President: Sedef Kabaş's police statement revealed

The statement of journalist Sedef Kabaş, who was detained yesterday evening on allegations of insulting the President, has been obtained. It was reported that the detention was carried out as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, citing posts Kabaş made on her X account.

“Is there anyone who still thinks that only soldiers carry out coups? As of #March19, the country is being governed by a 'civilian coup'... The strongest presidential candidate of the future has been imprisoned... And now, the country's most deep-rooted and largest political party is being seized!”

It was noted that Kabaş provided the following response regarding this post:

“There is no such thing as the alleged crime of insulting the President, nor are there any indications, names, words, or similar elements related to such a crime present in the posts I made. In other words, there is no use of weapons, display of violence, terrorist attack, or hate speech involved.”

“THE IMPRISONMENT OF THE STRONGEST CANDIDATE IS A FACT”

It was reported that Kabaş, who stood by her posts in her statement, used the following words:

“The imprisonment of the strongest presidential candidate is not an interpretation, it is a reality, it is a fact. The party congress debates, the lawsuits filed, and the attempt to appoint a trustee to the management of Turkey's largest opposition party, the CHP, are indicators of an effort to ‘seize’ it. This is again not my own personal interpretation, but a statement said and written by millions. Do only soldiers carry out coups? The answer to my question is, of course, no. There can be a civilian coup, a military coup, or an economic coup; all of these are interpretations.”
