Stating that the government is applying lawlessness against the opposition, Özdağ expressed that the Zafer Party opposes this situation.
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who is currently detained at Silivri Prison, reacted to the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Özdağ stated, "Those who have detained me unlawfully and have failed to prepare my indictment for 58 days have today detained the Mayor of Istanbul, Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, with the same lawlessness."

In a post on his social media account, Özdağ reacted to İmamoğlu's detention, saying, "If you want, arrest the entire opposition and go ahead and play at democracy by yourselves! As the Zafer Party, we oppose this lawlessness and reiterate our promise to return the Turkish State to the Turkish Nation. Down with tyranny, long live freedom! Down with the enemies of the nation, long live the Great Turkish Nation! Down with those who murder justice, long live justice!"
