Former AKP mayor said it nine days ago: Certain events could harm Mr. Ahmet
Statements made nine days ago by Necmi Kadıoğlu, an AKP member who served as mayor of Esenyurt for three terms before resigning in 2017 due to 'health issues,' have become a hot topic: "I think certain events could harm Mr. Ahmet (Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer)."
CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained this morning on charges of "being a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization." Following searches of his home, vehicle, and office at the municipal building, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office alleged that Özer had been tasked by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan with a democratic autonomy project and that related documents had been delivered to Kandil.
The prosecution claimed that over a 10-year period, Özer had "records of communication with 694 individuals who have judicial records due to their membership in terrorist organizations, and 14 records of communication with KCK executive Remzi Kartal."
The remarks made by the AKP's Kadıoğlu nine days ago on a YouTube channel have become a trending topic on social media.
In the broadcast in question, Kadıoğlu said:
"I even wrote a letter and said 'Congratulations.' The people elected him. One must give the person elected by the people a chance. I advise him not to stir people up just to look charming. Because the state is always 19 years old. The state ignores nothing, overlooks nothing; it sees everything. I think speeches, actions, certain events, and certain meetings could harm Mr. Ahmet."
When asked to "elaborate a bit" on this, the former AKP mayor replied:
"There is nothing to elaborate on; those who need to elaborate will do so when the time comes. Mr. Ahmet should not lose sight of the fact that 'I am the mayor, and people from every party expect service from me' by getting caught up in the praise of others at meetings. Service comes first. If I had left this place and my goal was Istanbul or something else... If they set such goals for themselves, this is not being a mayor. This means using the office of the mayor and the people who voted for you."
