Former AKP member Hüseyin Kocabıyık evaluates the appointment of Akın Gürlek: 'This has only one meaning...'
The appointment of Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek as Minister of Justice by the decision of President Erdoğan has drawn notable comments in political circles. Former AKP deputy Hüseyin Kocabıyık interpreted this development as a preparation for an "early election" and argued that the appointment was not in line with state traditions.
With a decision signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and published in the Official Gazette, Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek has been appointed as the Minister of Justice. Gürlek's assumption of the ministerial seat has sparked new debates on the political agenda.
EARLY ELECTION CLAIM
Former AKP deputy Hüseyin Kocabıyık drew attention to the timing and the name of the appointment in a post on his social media account. Kocabıyık evaluated Akın Gürlek's new role as an election move, stating, "This has only one meaning: Early election."
Kocabıyık also argued that the decision does not align with state tradition. Emphasizing how Devlet Bahçeli was involved in this process, the former deputy shared the following message:
"I can fully understand Akın Gürlek becoming the Minister of Justice. The point I cannot understand is this: how was Mr. Devlet Bahçeli convinced to agree to this appointment, which is completely contrary to state culture? The Devlet Bahçeli I know should not have allowed such a wrong appointment."
