Harsh response from the Palace to Akın Gürlek criticism: 'Yesterday you engaged in politics in the shadow of this cause and...'
Former AKP deputy Hüseyin Kocabıyık harshly criticized Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, while Chief Advisor to the President Oktay Saral responded to Kocabıyık with harsh words.
Former AKP deputy Hüseyin Kocabıyık lashed out at Akın Gürlek, who was appointed as Minister of Justice by President Tayyip Erdoğan.
In a statement on his social media account, Kocabıyık used the following expressions regarding Gürlek's appointment: “I look at Akın Gürlek's picture. The man looks like a caricature. One wonders if Tayyip Erdoğan could not find anyone else in all of Turkey to serve as Minister of Justice. What a pity for this country, what a pity! Furthermore, how can someone who will be tried for challenging our country's constitution the day conditions change be made Minister of Justice?”
Kocabıyık's words quickly resonated widely on social media.
RESPONSE FROM THE PALACE
In response to Kocabıyık's words, a harsh reply came from Chief Advisor to the President Oktay Saral. In a statement on his social media account, Saral said, “To lash out at a Minister of the country, a statesman, in such a vulgar manner is plain immorality. This is not politics; it is cheap polemics and the rotten state of personal ambition.”
Increasing the dose of his criticism, Saral stated, “It is not anyone's place to set up a court on social media and pass judgment on Akın Gürlek, who came to office with the discretion of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Those who use the language of lynching while talking about the law should first face their own contradictions.”
Stating that the criticisms stemmed from personal anger and delusions, Oktay Saral said, “Let those who yesterday engaged in politics in the shadow of this cause and today try to stay in the spotlight with slander and insults know this: Turkey cannot be made material for your anger, arrogance, and delusions.”
