İmamoğlu reacts sharply to that photo from the hospital: 'Are you longing for the era of unsolved murders?'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted with very harsh words by sharing a photo on his social media account showing Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who is currently imprisoned and undergoing cancer treatment, waiting at his mother's bedside while in handcuffs.

Rebelling against the treatment Çalık was subjected to, İmamoğlu described the events during this process as "persecution" and "a lack of conscience." Stating, "Neither God nor the nation will forgive those who inflict this torment on mothers in front of hospitals," İmamoğlu addressed those responsible, asking, "Who are you?"

İmamoğlu compared what was done to Çalık to the dark periods of Turkey, which are remembered for unsolved murders. He attacked the government with the words, "Are you longing for the era remembered by a car model? Did you draw inspiration from the era of unsolved murders while carrying out torture and cruelty?"

İmamoğlu's post is as follows:

Neither God nor the nation will forgive those who inflict this torment on mothers in front of hospitals.

Mr. Süleyman Çelebi came to visit me. While we were talking about the torment inflicted on our brother Mehmet Murat Çalık, he recounted his own experience during the coup era.

He spent 4.5 years in prison during the September 12 period. He lost his father during that time; I offer my condolences. He said that when he attended his father's funeral, there was only one soldier with him, and despite it being a coup administration, it did not occur to anyone to put handcuffs on his hands.

I cannot find the words to write or say about the persecution inflicted on my brother Mehmet M. Çalık. He is taken to hospitals, in handcuffs. He is diagnosed with cancer at the hospital he went to for treatment and check-ups. Then, after undergoing surgery, he is transported in handcuffs to have an angiogram. The photo appears in the media. This is not enough; a report is issued stating that it is not possible for him to remain in prison in Izmir, and he is referred to Istanbul for the Forensic Medicine Institute. Is there no Forensic Medicine in Izmir?

That is not enough either; after the Forensic Medicine Institute, he is sent to Metris Prison, and from there to Izmir.

That is not enough either; the Forensic Medicine Institute decides that all examinations must be repeated.

What kind of persecution is this, what kind of lack of conscience is this?

For God's sake, who are you? For what purpose are you performing your duties?

With what ambition, whom are you trying to please?

I am addressing the ambitious people who carry out these duties:

Are you longing for the era remembered by a car model?

Did you draw inspiration from the era of unsolved murders while carrying out torture and cruelty?

With what grudge, passion, or obsession are you acting? In whose name, whom are you serving?

This nation and the judiciary of this country will hold you accountable for these when the day comes.

May God grant all of you the conscience, virtue, wisdom, and morality of Mr. Ergün Turan, who speaks with his conscience even if our ideas and political views are different!
