Kemal Okuyan reacts to Fidan's remarks: NATO signal from Sweden

Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström made statements to journalists before the second and final day session of the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting.

Answering questions at the entrance of the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Billström said he expects Turkey to approve Sweden's NATO membership within a few weeks.

"HE TOLD ME THIS YESTERDAY"

Billström stated, "I had a bilateral meeting with my colleague, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, yesterday. He told me he expects the approval to take place within a few weeks. He did not give a date, but he said 'within a few weeks.' He expects the ratification of Sweden's NATO protocol to be completed within weeks. He told me this yesterday."

REACTION FROM OKUYAN

TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan reacted to Fidan's words and said the following:

"Foreign Minister Fidan told the Swedish Minister that the approval for NATO accession would be granted in a few weeks. No denial has come. Thus, the stance has shifted from 'There is a parliament in Turkey, whatever its will decides will happen' to 'don't worry, this won't be left to the new year.' #NoToNATO!"
