Mansur Yavaş recalls 'Yeni Şafak' in response to Bahçeli's 'Öcalan' call: 'Interesting things are happening up there...'
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş commented on the statements made by Devlet Bahçeli, who called for PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to address Parliament during his party's group meeting yesterday. Recalling the headline of the pro-government newspaper Yeni Şafak, Yavaş said, "Interesting things are happening up there."
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Union of Historical Cities President Mansur Yavaş arrived in Şanlıurfa to attend the "UNESCO City of Music Launch" program, which will be held today in Şanlıurfa, a city recognized as a "City of Music" by UNESCO.
Yavaş commented on MHP leader Bahçeli's 'Öcalan' call with the following words:
"We are all surprised; when we look at what was said in the past compared to now, we are trying to understand the reason for this change in stance. The public will give the best answer to this.
Presumably, it will be evaluated better once the group meetings are over tomorrow or the next day. Today, the newspaper Yeni Şafak also ran a headline contrary to Bahçeli's. Interesting things are happening up there."
WHAT DID YENI ŞAFAK SAY?
The pro-government newspaper Yeni Şafak, unlike other mainstream newspapers and other pro-government outlets, had run the headline "Öcalan's place is Imralı."
