Ministry of Transport's billion-lira tender awarded to AKP-linked firm

The state's billion-lira tenders continue to go to firms close to the AKP. The General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments, under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, awarded the "Filyos Port Railway Connection Line Construction Project" tender in Zonguldak to a joint venture group that includes REC International Construction.

BILLION-LIRA TENDER WENT TO A FIRM KNOWN FOR ITS PROXIMITY TO THE AKP

According to a report by Sözcü, while the word 'intelligence' was seen in the registration number of the non-public tender, the estimated cost of the tender and the method used were not specified. The tender result was announced on April 29. The tender was awarded to the triple joint venture of REC International Construction-Ballast Nedam-Heitkamp Construction for 2 billion 336 million 718 thousand 16 TL.

REC CONSTRUCTION HAS BEEN AWARDED BILLION-LIRA TENDERS

REC International Construction, a subsidiary of Rönesans Holding, which previously built the Presidential Palace in Beştepe, Ankara, and the Okluk Palace in Marmaris, had also received billion-lira earthquake housing tenders. The company, which will build 980 housing units for TOKİ in Çukurova, Adana, signed a contract worth 2 billion 343 million TL on August 29, 2024.

REC also won the tender for the construction of 1523 housing units in Defne, Hatay, by TOKİ on May 3, 2023, for 3 billion 89 million liras. The same company won the construction work for 1546 housing units in the same region for 3 billion 184 million 900 thousand TL. REC Construction received the tender for the construction of 1131 housing units in Antakya, Hatay, on May 12, 2023, for 2 billion 355 million TL. The company won the construction of 2341 housing units in Yeşilyurt, Malatya, on May 12, 2023, for 4 billion 538 million liras. REC had won the tender for the city hospital to be built in Sancaktepe, Istanbul, in 2023 for 16 billion 138 million TL.
