‘New Party’ work in CHP: More than 90 deputies expected to resign

A critical day has begun in the CHP as part of preparations for a “New Party.” It is stated that after CHP Chairman Özgür Özel holds a closed-door group meeting with deputies, those expected to join the new party will submit their resignations to Parliament.

In party corridors, it is being expressed that the number of deputies leaving the CHP to join the “New Party” could exceed 90. It is reported that these deputies are expected to serve as members of the founders' board in the new formation.

When asked previously about how many deputies would resign, Özel had replied, “Let’s see Friday or Monday.” For the process to become official, the establishment petition is expected to be submitted tomorrow, or by Monday at the latest if it is not ready in time.

The new party plans to set out initially with a logo consisting only of its name, with the logo to be developed later following consultations with citizens. It is stated that the phrase “Turkey’s leading party” will be used as the slogan.
