Notable post from Bahadır Erdem about İmamoğlu immediately after Erdoğan announces Kurum

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has officially announced Murat Kurum as his party's candidate for Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

Bahadır Erdem, who resigned from the İYİ Party last November, made a post on his social media account about CHP's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu as soon as Kurum's candidacy was announced.

Drawing attention to debates on the Constitution and secularism, Erdem stated, "I will not entrust the village where I was born to anyone other than Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu."

Erdem used the following expressions on the social media platform X:

"I will not entrust the village where I was born to anyone other than Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu. The issue is not just Istanbul. The issue is law, justice, secularism, the Republic, and women's rights. The issue is the Constitution. I will not allow the AKP to win Istanbul and let all sharia supporters occupy the streets of the city where I was born. That is why Ekrem İmamoğlu."

HE WANTED ISTANBUL AND ANKARA TO REMAIN IN OPPOSITION HANDS

Bahadır Erdem had explained his reasons for resigning from the İYİ Party with the following words;

''I thought that cities like Istanbul and Ankara should not be lost and should remain entirely in opposition hands.

I did not take Kürşad Zorlu's statements personally; I believe my reason for resignation is entirely a principled one. It is not based on resentment or anger. The entire public understood this. If it hadn't been understood, I would have been very sad. What matters is how you are known when you leave. There is a forty-year debt of gratitude for a cup of coffee. Both the one who drinks the coffee and the one left behind should observe this. I worked very hard. I saw myself. I saw that we had differences of opinion. This occurred at the point of fielding candidates in Istanbul and Ankara for these local elections. This is important to me. Because the upcoming local elections could bring about increasing lawlessness as the AKP wins. Therefore, I thought that cities like Istanbul and Ankara should not be lost and should remain entirely in opposition hands. I think this is very important for opposition voters. I left due to this principled difference of opinion.''
