Open support for the 'solution' process from Nagehan Alçı: 'The People's Alliance could make history with the support of the CHP'

Journalist Nagehan Alçı, who was among the figures who played an active role in the previous opening and solution process, made evaluations regarding the new 'process' following the call made by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli from the parliamentary podium for Öcalan. 

Regarding the "new solution process" discussions, which were sparked by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's invitation to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, she commented, "We are witnessing moves so advanced that one cannot simply say, 'We have seen this movie before.'"

Stating that she could not have imagined the speech made by Bahçeli, who said, “If there is a Turk who does not love Kurds, they are not a Turk. If there is a Kurd who does not love Turks, they are not a Kurd…. It is a duty for Turks and Kurds to love one another…”, Alçı noted the following:

'THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE COULD MAKE HISTORY WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE CHP'

"Let us not forget… The words above were spoken from the captain's bridge of Turkish nationalism! The government, the AK Party and the MHP, appear to have decided to walk a path together. Moreover, this time, the state is more united and whole than ever before.

Of course, there may still be factions inside that could sabotage this process, but on the surface, there is no division, no power struggle. This offers us a tremendous opportunity.

If the current atmosphere continues, if there is a determined stance against public opinion, and if short-term populist calculations do not distract, something could truly change this time.

Look at how DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan responded to Devlet Bahçeli's words from the other day at the ESP Congress held in Ankara yesterday:

'We also say that it is a duty for Turks and Kurds to love one another and to respect each other's rights and laws. We also believe in this…. Now, we want to state that these historical Kurdish and Turkish relations should reach a democratic ground and a democratic understanding. We must now get rid of the anxiety that every right granted to Kurds will be a loss for Turks. As Kurds win, Turks win; as Kurds win, the peoples and laborers of Turkey win. As Turks win, Kurds win…'

If we cannot solve this while the MHP and the DEM Party have found common ground in this language, it will be difficult to solve it again… If the People's Alliance does not get distracted by attempts to provoke the nationalist base and remains determined to create a lasting difference, it could make history with the support of the CHP as well."
