Operation targeting trustee administration: Detention warrants issued for 47 people

In a large-scale operation conducted in the morning hours in the Halfeti district of Şanlıurfa, 47 people, including former AKP Mayor Şeref Albayrak, were detained.

The operation was carried out under the coordination of the Şanlıurfa Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch and the Birecik District Police Department, following instructions from the Birecik Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

INVESTIGATION INTO TENDERS DURING THE TRUSTEE ERA

The operation was launched based on allegations of irregularities in municipal tenders conducted during the period of the trustee administration of the Halfeti Municipality and the period from the 2019 local elections to 2024. 

Within the scope of the investigation, the focus is on corruption charges related to various tenders at the municipality.

NAMES DETAINED

Among the 47 people detained are the mayor of the period, Şeref Albayrak, as well as deputy mayors, assistant mayors, municipal council members, department heads, engineers, and technical personnel.
