Özgür Çelik reacts sharply to the arrest of Hasan Mutlu

Dismissed CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik made a statement on his social media account regarding the arrest of Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu.

Stating that Turkey is experiencing one of the most shameful periods in its political history, Çelik expressed that Hasan Mutlu was arrested because he won the Bayrampaşa Municipality after 30 years and refused to join the AKP.

Çelik included the following words in his statement:

• We are living through the most shameful period of Turkey's political history. Hasan Mutlu was arrested for the crimes of winning the Bayrampaşa Municipality after a 30-year hiatus and refusing to bow to threats of 'we will throw you in the dungeon if you do not join the AKP.'

• The people of Bayrampaşa are with us. The will of our people is with us. The collective conscience of society is with us. We will continue to resist with all our might against the oppression of a minority government that lost the last elections and is certain to lose the next ones. We will definitely win this struggle.

Emphasizing that the people of Bayrampaşa and the conscience of society are on their side, Çelik stated that they will continue their resistance against the pressures of the minority government.
