Özgür Özel reveals poll conducted with 300,000 people! 'The first results...'
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel has announced the results of a poll in which 300,000 people participated. Stating that "the first results are telling us promising things," Özel said, "Whatever you are going to do, you must do it on March 31. Concerned voters must unite. If the reaction is not reflected at the ballot box, exploitation will continue."
Turkey is moving step by step toward local elections.
As political parties continue their local election campaigns, Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the current agenda.
According to the report by Cumhuriyet; addressing the issues experienced during the candidate determination process in his party, Özel said, "Due to one or two technical glitches, errors, or bad intentions, there were situations where lists were not completed on time. We are filing our objections. 22,000 candidates applied, and 1,187 became candidates. Besides this, we have a large number of municipal council member candidates. But the intensity has passed."
ÖZEL ANNOUNCES CHP'S VOTE TARGET
Pointing out that the CHP is entering the local elections alone, Özgür Özel said, "We have a target of exceeding 30 percent across Turkey."
Özel continued as follows;
"Basically, not to lose any municipality, and to expand the coastal Aegean strip inland to include Bursa, Balıkesir, Manisa, and Denizli. We have set a claim in Central Anatolia, in Kırıkkale. We have assigned our deputies in Kastamonu, Malatya, and Adıyaman. In the measurements taken, these four deputies received demand far above the party's vote. Especially in the earthquake zone, Veli Ağbaba in Malatya and Abdurrahman Tutdere emerged from polls where they were not even included. The demand to include Veli Bey and Tutdere came from the public. Now it is going well."
ALLIANCE STATEMENT: I PUSHED ALL CONDITIONS
Touching upon the alliance negotiations held with other parties that resulted in failure, Özgür Özel stated, "I pushed all conditions to form an alliance. Since I took office on November 5, I pushed all conditions to form an alliance, especially with the IYI Party. It was not possible to form a real central alliance with anyone. The IYI Party says, 'Being in a constant alliance with the CHP is not strategic for us; we will be free and independent.' I am saddened, but I understand and respect it."
RESPONSE TO SIRRI SAKIK'S 'WE WILL MAKE YOU LOSE' STATEMENT
Regarding the response from Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MP Sırrı Sakık, who said, "Of course, we will make you lose too," Özel said:
"We hear very negative statements from some politicians and from various political parties. I forget the things I do not hear from their chairmen. Because the skill in opposition is not to start a fight. The skill is to criticize the government and get along well with the opposition. I try to let go of every criticism I hear by saying 'may they be well'."
"THERE ARE STATEMENTS FROM DEM THAT THEY HAVE NO STRATEGY TO MAKE THE GOVERNMENT LOSE"
Saying, "There are statements from DEM that they have no strategy to make the government lose, and they have no effort to make the opposition win," Özel made the following call:
"My assurance, my belief, and my call here are not to the administrators of the opposition parties, but to the voters of the opposition parties with whom we showed this great success together in 2019. Because those voters have not changed; they are still there. We balanced the government in 2019. That is, after the first election held according to the constitutional amendment that targeted the regime in 2018, it received disproportionate authority. In the morning, it appointed a governor; in the afternoon, it gained the authority to appoint a provincial head with the same pen. It gained the authority to appoint district heads with the same pen and the same ink as the district governors. The 2019 victory actually created a balance at that time with the correct reading of politics, and that is how the unity that did not lose the first round in 2023 and lost by a small margin in the second round came to be. That unity had many mistakes and shortcomings, but it was an important unity. We almost changed the government on the 100th anniversary of the Republic; it was very close. Now, for the government not to be permanent in Turkey, for the election to be held, and for the opposition to be strong, one way to balance the government again is the local elections. And all over the world, the power of the local has become much more important."
POLL CONDUCTED WITH 300,000 PEOPLE
Stating that they had 300 major polls conducted while determining candidates for the elections and reached 300,000 subjects, Özel noted the following:
"We made very important decisions. We benefited greatly from the power of the polls. We are continuing measurement and evaluation during the campaign phase. The first polls that came after the nominations are telling promising things. We think that everyone who says 'let Gökçek-style municipalism not come, let coupon plots in Istanbul not be given to Arab sheikhs and Qataris, let us not encounter the painful surprise of Kanal Istanbul in Istanbul, let the processes where three to five thousand people are fired not be experienced again if Mersin passes to the MHP, let the MHP oppression not return in Adana, let an AKP municipalism that interferes with the lifestyle and will sink tourism not come in Antalya, Muğla, Aydın, and İzmir' should unite under the CHP."
