Resignations over İmamoğlu continue in İYİ Party! District chair and his team resign via video

Following the decision by the İYİ Party's General Administrative Board to enter the elections independently, the wave of resignations that began within the party shows no signs of stopping. Now, Zeytinburnu District Chair Erdinç Bayraktar has announced that he and his team are resigning to support İmamoğlu.

Erdinç Bayraktar announced his decision to resign in a video posted on his social media account. Recalling that he has fulfilled every duty assigned to him since the founding of the İYİ Party, Bayraktar stated that he had advocated for cooperation in Istanbul and Zeytinburnu regarding the local elections. Expressing that he had been at odds with his heart following the İYİ Party General Administrative Board's decision to 'enter the elections independently,' Bayraktar said the following:

“My heart was in favor of giving full support to Ekrem İmamoğlu in Istanbul. After consultations with my colleagues, as of February 15, I, along with many of my friends, am resigning from our duties in the district organization and from the party. We declare that we will support Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has dedicated his days and nights to Istanbul since 2019 so that it may be a better place, and who has gained favor across Istanbul and even the entire country with his efforts and vision, unconditionally and in line with our ideals for the Turkey we long for. We say full speed ahead with Ekrem İmamoğlu.”
