CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu encountered a reproach from a retiree complaining about the cost of living during his program in Gaziantep. The citizen, who stated that he is a father of five, reacted to Kılıçdaroğlu by explaining that his pension is not enough for daily needs.
While describing the economic conditions, the retired citizen said, "But what will happen to these retirees under these conditions? That is what we are thinking about. I swear, I am going to withdraw my pension right now. By the time I get home, this money is already gone from my pocket."
Continuing his speech, the citizen turned to Kılıçdaroğlu and said, "I mean, we trusted you so much, but you abandoned us." Kılıçdaroğlu replied to these words, "We did not abandon you. We will embrace you again now." The retired citizen responded, "I hope so, Mr. Chairman. That is what we are expecting from you."
During the meeting, it was also expressed that economic problems affect not only retirees but society as a whole. Pointing to the closure of factories in Gaziantep, Kılıçdaroğlu assessed, "If factories are closing in Gaziantep, it means there is a problem in the country."
Kılıçdaroğlu's Gaziantep program, covering October 24-25, includes contacts with tradespeople, industrialists, and farmers. As part of the program, he is scheduled to attend a participation ceremony for 103 young members at the CHP Provincial Headquarters and speak at an event titled "National Consciousness, Rising Industry, Winning Farmer."
Kılıçdaroğlu is also expected to visit the Nizip and Karkamış districts to meet with olive producers.
