Saraçhane crisis in the Victory Party: Özdağ responds to Bartu Soral's resignation
Ümit Özdağ has issued a statement regarding Bartu Soral, who resigned from the Victory Party (Zafer Partisi) in protest of the party's decision not to attend the CHP's Saraçhane rally.
Rallies that began across the country following the sentencing of İmamoğlu continue without slowing down. The latest of these rallies was held in Saraçhane on July 1, marking the 100th day since İmamoğlu's sentencing.
A notable development occurred prior to the rally. In a letter sent from the Victory Party headquarters to its Istanbul district chairs, it was stated, "No one from the Victory Party organizations will attend the CHP's event in Saraçhane to be held today."
The letter in question drew backlash and subsequently led to a resignation. Victory Party member Bartu Soral announced his resignation from the party, stating, "Unfortunately, one cannot be a Kemalist just by saying so... One becomes one through action..."
ÖZDAĞ'S RESPONSE TO BARTU SORAL
Following this striking development, all eyes turned to Özdağ. Known for his active use of social media, Özdağ, who had not made a post regarding Soral's resignation, made a statement about Soral today.
During his visit to the Anahtar Party as part of his party visits, Özdağ responded to a question about Soral during a joint press conference:
"Bartu Bey is a good friend of ours. He is also a personal friend of mine. Our friendship with Bartu Bey continues. We spoke this morning. He is a valuable economist, but there can sometimes be differences in working methods in politics. We do not have a difference of opinion. Since I spent my last action for five months in Silivri, there is no problem regarding action either.
Our actions will continue from now on. As you know, the last action I took before entering Silivri was the 'No Amnesty for the Murderers of Mehmetçik' rally in Antalya. From now on, the Victory Party will demonstrate its activism through rallies, meetings, and visits.
I do not think that Bartu Bey has any doubts about the Kemalism, the Kemalist line, or the Turkish nationalism of the Victory Party and Ümit Özdağ."
