TIP Chairman Erkan Baş becomes mayoral candidate
In a post shared on the Workers' Party of Turkey's official social media account, it was announced that TIP Chairman Erkan Baş has become the mayoral candidate for the Gebze district of Kocaeli.
Following the announcement made on the party's official social media account, TIP Chairman Erkan Baş also made a post on his own social media account, sharing statements regarding his candidacy.

The following statements were included in the post Erkan Baş made regarding his candidacy:
"Dear friends, our country is entering another important election process. First of all, I would like to sincerely thank all our candidates who trusted our party and applied for mayoral and municipal council memberships.
Being a candidate for the Workers' Party of Turkey does not bring one status or money; the meaning of a TIP candidacy is to take responsibility and put one's hand to the wheel.
Because we evaluate candidacy this way, I am sharing the responsibility I expect from my friends and announcing my candidacy from Gebze, our country's largest industrial hub.
We said that Turkey's workers' party would always be by the side of and at the service of the Turkish working class. We will never agree to industrial hubs being seen as vote banks for right-wing parties and being abandoned, and we will change this perception.
Because, from our perceptions to our habits, it is essential to change from head to toe! Workers will govern Gebze. Workers will govern Turkey."
