TRT unable to say 'zero' in response to CHP question
TRT, which broadcasts using citizens' taxes, continues to ignore the opposition. TRT was unable to provide an answer to questions regarding the airtime given to opposition figures.
At the Turkish Grand National Assembly's State Economic Enterprises (KİT) Commission, questions were raised regarding how much airtime TRT allocated to CHP politicians throughout 2024. Members of Parliament asked questions such as, "How many CHP politicians appeared on TRT screens in 2024?" and "When was the last time a CHP member was featured on TRT?"
According to a report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü, the TRT General Directorate provided a written response to these questions but avoided using the word "Zero." Instead, it issued a statement saying, "Our institution continues its work within the framework of its broadcasting principles, with an approach that is impartial, objective, accurate, and prompt in its programs and news."
In the response given to the questions of CHP Istanbul MP Ali Gökçek, it was stated that TRT follows the activities of all political parties and includes them in its broadcasts.
The statement said the following:
“TRT follows the activities and work of all political parties and features them on its screens. Our institution continues its work within the framework of its general broadcasting principles, with an approach that is impartial, objective, accurate, and prompt in its news and programs.”
