Unanswered Turkey: Nearly 9,000 out of over 30,000 parliamentary questions left without a response

During the 3rd Legislative Year of the 28th Term of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), nearly 9,000 out of a total of 30,546 parliamentary questions submitted by deputies remained unanswered. It was noted that the government failed to respond to the vast majority of information requests despite the high volume of inquiries from opposition parties.

Unanswered Turkey: Nearly 9,000 out of over 30,000 parliamentary questions left without a response

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) concluded its 3rd Legislative Year of the 28th Term as of July 21, entering recess until October 1. During the legislative process that began on October 1, 2024, the TBMM General Assembly accepted and enacted a total of 32 legislative proposals. Seven of these consisted of regulations regarding the ratification of international agreements.

In addition to legislative activities, written parliamentary questions submitted by deputies for the purpose of obtaining information were one of the most intense agendas of the Assembly during this period.

According to data reported by NTV, 12,128 parliamentary questions were submitted by CHP deputies, 8,181 by DEM Party deputies, 320 by MHP deputies, and 39 from the AKP benches during the 3rd Legislative Year.

ONLY 4,000 WERE ANSWERED ON TIME

Out of the more than 30,000 questions submitted in total, only 4,000 were answered within the legal timeframe. 16,908 questions were answered after the legal deadline had passed. The response process for 839 questions is still ongoing.
