CHP's Günaydın responds to AKP's Usta: 'That's what happens when you read history from Fesli Kadir'

Responding to AKP's Leyla Şahin Usta's claim that there were no tractors in Turkey before 2002, CHP's Gökhan Günaydın said, "That is what happens when you read history from Fesli Kadir."

AKP Ankara Deputy Usta stated, "There were no tractors in this country, there was no tractor production in this country. Now, when we say 'high technology,' I am not just referring to UAVs and UCAVs. This country is a country that produces its own ventilators."

CHP Istanbul Deputy Günaydın replied, "The Aircraft and Motor Corporation (Tayyare ve Motor A.Ş.) was established in Turkey in 1926. On May 3, 1934, our aircraft built at the Kayseri Aircraft Factory made its first flight from Kayseri to Ankara. The first tractor in Turkey was produced on March 8, 1955. That is what happens when you read history from Fesli Kadir."

"WE ALL KNOW VERY WELL"

Speaking during the budget negotiations at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), AKP Group Deputy Chairman Leyla Şahin Usta said, "Today we discussed the budgets of our 2 important ministries and listened to their speeches. I thank our esteemed deputies who spoke in our group. Each of them made satisfying, knowledgeable speeches, evaluating all the work and investments made during our government's term or before, it doesn't matter."

Responding to the criticism that technology exports have declined during the AKP era, Usta said, "There was a deputy of ours who claimed that Turkey's high-tech exports were higher before 2002, at around 6 percent. For God's sake, we all know very well when and how what we call 'high technology' developed in this country, and our deputies explained these one by one in detail in their speeches.

There were no tractors in this country, there was no tractor production in this country. Now, when we say 'high technology,' I am not just referring to UAVs and UCAVs. This country is a country that produces its own ventilators and has developed a high technology that has been a breath of life for both itself and many countries in the world during the pandemic," she said.

"WE ARE STARTING OUR SPACE INITIATIVE"

Usta said, "If what is understood by high technology is just holding a Zoom meeting from abroad, we have long passed those," adding, "Tomorrow or the next day - our Minister is also here - we are hopefully starting our space initiative.

We especially condemn the mentality that ignores the domestic and national engineers, scientists, technicians, and workers of this country who produce in this country and who have contributed to reaching this point," she said.

At this point, CHP Gaziantep Deputy Hasan Öztürkmen replied, "An airplane was built in 1934, two airplanes."

Later, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın took the floor and said the following:

"The negotiations were indeed continuing on a very technical and mature level. That was until the AKP Group Deputy Chairman started listing her metaphors, starting with the tractor.

The claim that nothing was done in this country before the AKP, the claim of confining the history of the Republic of Turkey to the last 20 years is nothing but an empty dream, and we provide the evidence for these every time.

Stating that there are injustices in the judicial system, Günaydın said, "They talk about justice, there are many examples to give, there are many political prisoners in Turkey and all their rights are being violated. But beyond these, there is something else:

In Turkey, it is not possible for the poor, for the unowned to find justice. Look, just yesterday in Istanbul, a motorcycle courier brother of ours was openly crushed by the son of the Somali President, and you could not even implement a judicial control measure.

You have nothing to do but give speeches after the son of the Somali President, who left Turkey freely on December 2. At least don't talk about justice, let's continue to talk about the facts," he said.

"NURİ DEMİRAĞ'S FACTORY WAS CLOSED"

Requesting the floor again, Leyla Şahin Usta replied, "I will just give one example too. We all know Nuri Demirağ, may he rest in peace. That factory, which opened in 1946, was closed; the aircraft factory was turned into a stove factory instead, and the people were even made to watch the transition to those stoves.

I want to state this especially so that it is noted in history. Diplomatic initiatives have been launched regarding the bringing back of the Somali President's son; he will come and will be tried in Turkey.

Of course, we are all defenders of justice and we all desire for him to serve his sentence," she replied.
