Hulusi Akar on PKK's dissolution process: 'The state said leave, and they left': We have saved, we will save
Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly National Defense Commission and AKP Kayseri Deputy Hulusi Akar stated that the ongoing process is the most important turning point in Turkey's more than 40-year struggle against terrorism.
Former Minister of National Defense of Turkey, Hulusi Akar, made a notable comment following the terrorist organization PKK's announcement to lay down arms. Akar said, "The state demonstrated its will. It said, 'Come out, speak. Lay down your arms,' and they did."
Hulusi Akar continued his remarks as follows:
"With God's permission, hopefully, we have saved and will continue to save our noble nation from this scourge that has plagued it for over 40 years. Our President and Mr. Devlet Bahçeli are extremely determined in this regard. Therefore, the People's Alliance, as a whole, together with others who love their homeland and nation, will get rid of this trouble together by working shoulder to shoulder and hand in hand.
The question that comes to people's minds here is, 'How did this happen?' The state asserted its will. The organization has dissolved, and weapons are being laid down. There is a process for this. According to this process, within a plan and program, along with the disposal of these weapons, everyone, including the judiciary, administration, and civil authorities, knows their duty in this matter. Work will be carried out accordingly. Thus, we will gain time and resources in a very serious way. Most importantly, we will save the lives of our youth, our children."
Emphasizing that there will be a breakthrough in fields such as tourism, industry, trade, agriculture, and livestock in the east and southeast, Akar said, "Without making any religious, ethnic, or sectarian distinctions, we are 86 million, one and together. Hopefully, we will all find the opportunity to live much more comfortably and prosperously together. This is our goal and our effort."
