'Vote-buying' allegations at the CHP convention! Communication records of 51 people to be examined

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has taken a notable step in its investigation into the 38th Ordinary Convention of the CHP, held on November 4-5, 2023. As part of the process conducted under Article 112 of the Law on Political Parties, a letter was sent to the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) requesting that the communication records of 51 individuals be included in the case file.

İMAMOĞLU, TUGAY, AND ÇELİK ARE ON THE LIST

Among the individuals whose communication records have been requested as part of the investigation are Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, and CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik. The request covers the call logs, incoming calls, SMS messages, and base station location data for these individuals between August 1, 2023, and August 1, 2024.

115 PEOPLE HAVE TESTIFIED AS SUSPECTS

To date, 36 people have provided testimony as part of the investigation, and 115 people have given statements in the capacity of suspects. It appears that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is deepening this process and turning toward evidence gathering through communication records.
