Written statement from the Imralı Delegation following the meeting with Öcalan: What was discussed?
In a written statement issued after their 7th meeting with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, the DEM Party Imralı Delegation shared their views regarding the so-called disarmament ceremony held on July 11.
The DEM Party Imralı Delegation held a three-and-a-half-hour meeting with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan at Imralı Prison on July 25, 2025. The delegation issued a written statement following the meeting.
The statement provided information regarding the weapons destruction ceremony carried out by the terrorist organization PKK on July 11. The DEM Party Imralı Delegation claimed that after conveying their impressions regarding the effects of the ceremony and the reflections of this process to the terrorist Abdullah Öcalan, Öcalan found the will displayed at the ceremony to be valuable.
Öcalan also made a call for peace and democracy efforts on the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). He specifically stated that the commission work in the TBMM should contribute significantly to peace through a comprehensive and inclusive method.
Van Deputy Pervin Buldan and Mardin Deputy Mithat Sancar also participated in the DEM Party Imralı Delegation.
