4-day protest ban decision from the Şırnak Governor's Office
The Şırnak Governor's Office has announced that gatherings, marches, and press statements in open areas have been banned across the province between May 16 and May 19.
In a statement issued by the Governor's Office, it was stated that a ban has been imposed on activities such as gatherings, marches, and press statements in open areas across the province, effective from 18:00 on May 16, until 23:59 on May 19.
The statement read as follows:
“With the exception of events deemed appropriate by the Governor's Office and District Governor's offices, programs organized by public institutions and organizations, official holidays, official commemoration days, sports activities, official ceremonies and celebrations, programs held by these institutions in accordance with their traditions and customs, congresses held by unions and political parties in accordance with their charters, and commercial activities of private legal entities with a commercial identity, all kinds of potential open-air meetings and demonstration marches, mass welcoming and farewell ceremonies, press statements held by institutions and organizations outside their own buildings, sit-ins, rallies, tent pitching, petition campaigns, setting up stands, mass funeral ceremonies and cemetery visits, commemoration ceremonies, festivals, concerts, entertainment, theatrical performances, demonstrations, and all similar actions and events, all kinds of audio and visual activities that can be carried out with sound broadcasting vehicles, flying wish lanterns and balloons, all kinds of aerial activities such as drones and paramotors, as well as the distribution of flyers, stickers, and brochures, and the hanging of posters and banners, and the entry and exit of individuals coming from outside our province in groups to participate in actions and events to be held throughout our province, as well as mass entry and exit between the city center and districts, have been banned within the entire provincial borders, including the Şırnak city center and districts, covering the entire geographical area, city center, districts, and all police and gendarmerie responsibility zones, from 18:00 on May 16 until 23:59 on May 19, 2024.”
