4-day protest ban in Bitlis
The Bitlis Governor's Office has announced that demonstrations, marches, outdoor meetings, and press statements have been banned in the city for 4 days.
The Bitlis Governor's Office stated that, as in many other places regarding developments occupying the national agenda and occurring worldwide, various political parties, unions, non-governmental organizations, and individuals in Bitlis have been organizing press statements, outdoor meetings, protest marches, setting up stands, distributing flyers, and similar activities to inform the public, create public opinion, and promote certain issues.
The statement, which noted that these activities are frequently attempted to be used as a form of action by terrorist organizations and provocative groups, included the following:
"In this regard, within the borders of Bitlis, from 00:01 on February 1 to 23:59 on February 4, for a period of 4 days, except for those deemed appropriate by the Governor's Office and District Governorships, protest marches, outdoor and indoor meetings, press statements, sit-ins, conducting surveys, setting up tents and stands, organizing signature campaigns, distributing leaflets, brochures, and flyers, and all kinds of protest actions have been banned in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law on Meetings and Demonstration Marches and the Provincial Administration Law.
Furthermore, it has been decided that, between the same dates, entry into our province and districts, as well as individual or collective departure from these areas, by individuals or groups from our districts and surrounding provinces using our city's routes to participate in any illegal actions related to the subjects mentioned in organizational calls or similar topics, will not be permitted."
