The KGK-84 Wing Assisted Guidance Kit, developed by ASELSAN, has successfully completed its first qualification range firing conducted from an F-16 platform at the Sinop Firing Range.
It was stated that the system, which converts 2000 lb class general-purpose and bunker-buster bombs into long-range smart munitions, can reach a glide range of over 100 kilometers when released from an F-16. This capability is significant as it allows fighter jets to strike targets without entering the engagement zones of enemy air defense elements.
The KGK-84 was developed to be compatible with MK-84 and MK-84-T series free-fall bombs, as well as NEB and NEB-T munitions. The kit's deployable wing structure transforms the bomb's classic free-fall profile into a glide flight, enabling use from longer ranges.
In addition to inertial navigation and global positioning support, the system also features a CRPA anti-jam antenna architecture against GNSS interference. This structure contributes to the munition's ability to follow pre-determined routes and waypoints in environments where electronic warfare threats are intense.
In a post on its social media account, ASELSAN stated, "The KGK-84, a force multiplier on the battlefield with its high destructive power, is ready for duty."
With the integration of the KGK-84 into the inventory, the Turkish Air Force's long-range precision strike capacity against strategic targets is expected to be strengthened.
